The amendments to The Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (the Construction Act) have been a very long time coming. Although the amendments to the Act have received Royal Assent the Act cannot be amended until the Scheme for Construction Contracts is also amended so that they work together. Progress has been extremely slow but when the amendments take effect they will affect just about everyone in the construction industry so they cannot be ignored.
